And most importantly...never slip on an ancient wedding ring you know nothing about.
Sarah Larker returns to a cave where her sister disappeared ten years earlier. She walks through a portal, and is mistaken for a runaway princess by a dangerous immortal king in medieval times. Her plan is bold as well as daring; become this princess, wed the king, and slip on an ancient wedding ring that will unlock the portal back home. Then find her sister, and run as fast as she can out of Dodge. But taking on the identity of Princess Gloria comes along with dangerous consequences; and slipping on the ruby ring comes with an even higher price.
This is a paranormal romance, fantasy adventure, and time travel novel.

The ONLY reason i am giving this 2stars is because it ends with a cliffhanger!! the story is good.... no mistakes ... there is a plot ... a some what eye rolling story (big foot .... to poof! medevil times) but once you got over that ... immortls chime in.but still can't stand when so called authors end with cliffhangers so you have to buy the next 6 books to know the end. thankfully this was free.... Eternal Vows Book 1 The Ruby Ring Saga eBook Chrissy Peebles Reviews
I snagged this book as a freebie. Having never heard of the author before, I was not sure what I should expect. I mostly enjoyed the story- at least the premise of the story. The characters I wasn't so much impressed with. I truly wanted to smack the crud out of both Frank (moron!) and Sarah (idiot?). Neither of them would listen to reason and ended up making matters so much worse than they could have been. Headstrong idiots as the heroines are not my favorite type. Hopefully this one will redeem herself.
This was the first book in a series.
I'm not sure if I would recommend the book or not. Sarah seems like a juvenile twit while her band of one (for most of the book) Frank reminds me of a Jersey Shores character. With all his 'babe', I just picture some greasy haired, muscle-bound moron.
Will I continue with the next in the series? I'll be honest, I kind of want to see what happens. But I don't know if I'll pay a great deal for the next in the series. Especially if it's full of 'babe'.
I'm not even sure how you classify this book. It's not really a romance novel. It's definitely paranormal. Paranormal escapades?
I think the story had a lot of promise...but unfortunately the writing was very elementary. I wanted to yell at the book, "I get it! She is from modern times! Got it!" because every other sentence out of the Sarah's mouth was some reference to modern times. Same with the other modern people. I mean, who talks like that?? It got very frustrating. It felt like the author was trying to hard to show that she and her friends are from the future. We get it. We aren't that dumb. And also, the way the men talked to each other was not realistic. "Hey, buddy, listen here..." type lingo between grown men. My husband has never called someone buddy in anger and if he did I would laugh my butt off.
Also I found Sarah very annoying and was wondering what made her so appealing to the men in this story. She has a terrible attitude. Overall, I made myself finish the book. Like I said the actual plot I really liked. The whole ring of immortality and being tied to your mate for the rest of your life...I responded well to that. If the writing was better then I would have rated it higher.
This book just wasn't as good as I was hoping for. First of all, there are a fair number of really annoying editing problems. For instance, the vows for one of them say cling unto, instead of cleave unto. Or how about the Cardashian court becoming the Kardashian court. Did we move it to New Jersey!?
I had to give stars for the plot. I thought the premise was original and interesting. With better writing, this could have been quite a good book. Unfortunately, the writing was quite juvenile. These were people in their mid to late twenties that spoke like teenagers. Oh, maybe we are in New Jersey. I also agree with other reviewers that used the phrase, too convenient. The immortals that were hunting them could find them anywhere, except when the plot required them to have a bit of time, then suddenly the immortals couldn't find them at all. How convenient.
The book is only told from one character's point of view. Unfortunately, she's fairly whiney. On the one hand, she isn't nearly as upset as one would expect at finding herself in another dimension. On the other hand, she's overly annoyed because the guy she "fake" marries is "too controlling". She comes across as a bit shallow. I would have liked to see her character develop more. Instead, we read about same issues over and over, with no real change.
It was great that this book was free, but be warned. This is only half the story. It ends rather abruptly in the middle of the action. You have to pay for the second book to find out what happens to these characters.
The premise for this story is a unique take on fantasy fiction. While I do believe this story could have been great, it is not. The back stories for the characters are intriguing but for their reactions are one-dimensional. The scenes in the story are largely glossed over without much depth. I found myself glossing over descriptions of areas to get to the meat of the story because the descriptions became redundant.
After those negative facts here is why I have recommended this story to a friend and give the book 4-stars
I enjoyed it. It is a lighthearted novel which I could read in a couple of hours. While it does not have as much depth as my usual course of books do, it did provide a temporary relief from the stresses of reality. The unique story line kept me reading because I kept asking "What can this author dream up next?" I loved the premise of the book. Absolutely loved it.
However, some recommendations for the author
Request alpha and beta readers for continuity and to assess the depth of the book for the reader.
There are some minor grammatical errors were correctly spelled words were misplaced into sentences. (Not enough to prevent me from reading, but having beta readers will help catch those.)
Revise your story further. I would have considered these books an excellent first draft, but then tried to go back to insert more detail and conflict development. There are many spots in the book that I would have loved for you to elaborate further to expand the scene.
The ONLY reason i am giving this 2stars is because it ends with a cliffhanger!! the story is good.... no mistakes ... there is a plot ... a some what eye rolling story (big foot .... to poof! medevil times) but once you got over that ... immortls chime in.
